Afro-Boer
A truly one-of-a-kind baker’s café on lush Lynwood Road.
One of Pretoria’s most talked-about cafés, Afro-Boer is a spirited celebration of slow food, beautiful bakes and creativity. Everything here is “home-made, handmade and wholesome”, and many dishes have a distinctly South African twist. For example, there are perfect scones, served with cream, lemon curd and rooibos butter. Or you may want to stop by for breakfast and treat yourself to a biltong, avo and Brie omelette, or plaasbrood French toast. Lunch is an equally considered affair, right from the lamb-shank-and-tomato soup to the creamy chicken livers or the vegan butternut lasagne. Afro-Boer’s setting is no less magical than its menu. Tables spilling into the large, lush garden invite you to exhale and forget the to-do list – or bring Fido to stretch his legs, as there’s a doggy menu, too.
Don't leave without trying:
The Cha-Cha Pan, which is as exuberant in flavour as its name suggests: chorizo, mushrooms and truffle oil topped with poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce and Parmesan shavings, served with toasted panini slices.
