Exitangeni African Food
A homecoming experience and a menu that celebrates the whole animal.
Exitangeni's Instagram bio says it best: “One who eats alone cannot discuss the taste of the food with others.” This Alexandra favourite is built around that spirit, with a dining experience that is communal, generous and rooted in African culinary tradition. The menu is a lesson in nose-to-tail cooking: slow-cooked ox head in aromatic broth; tender ox tripe; fall-off-the-bone pig's trotters; mopani worms; hardbody chicken (those tough, free-roaming birds with a delicious gamey flavour); halfskop; and okra, xiphaswa and pap as companions. This is food that takes time, skill and cultural knowledge to prepare, and Exitangeni does it with quiet pride. Good to know: Exitangeni also offers catering services.
