If you’re looking for a sea breeze and an unobstructed view of the ocean, head to Café Orca in the small West Coast town of Melkbosstrand. Not much can beat sitting on the verandah in the sunshine with a chilled glass in your hand. This gem has been on the scene for 25 years and consistently delivers fresh seafood with friendly, personal service. Calamari, squid, mussels, prawns, linefish – they’re all here, served both simply and in more creative ways. Try the Moroccan, Thai or blue cheese linefish for something a little different, or stick to classics such as fried calamari with old-school coleslaw and tartar sauce. There are also platters for one or two people, plus crayfish when in season. They only serve seafood, so be sure to check your guests’ preferences. Once you’re done, take a stroll at the water’s edge to round off the experience.

Don't leave without trying:
The queen prawns or linefish with Cajun butter sauce.
