La Grotto Ristorante

La Grotto has been around since the 70s, first in Plumstead and now on Constantia Uitsig, where it’s a beloved local institution. The fact that it’s almost always full is a real testament to its consistency and longevity. The menu is Italian/Mediterranean inspired, all the dishes are simple and well executed, and it offers excellent value for money. Start with antipasti including a classic carpaccio, salt-and-pepper squid or marrow bones with chargrilled toast, then move onto a salad and pasta – there’s a large selection that’s bound to make everyone happy. The pizzas are also a winner, as are meaty mains including veal done various ways (limone, Marsala, schnitzel), as well as steaks – the sirloin tagliata with olive oil and mushrooms will satisfy any carnivore. There’s also seafood – fish, prawns calamari and mussels – for those who prefer something slightly lighter. Wines from the estate are on offer, as well as some other options. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed meal with friends or family.
