Hemelhuijs
A very stylish eatery with inventive, delicious food that’s beautifully presented.
Cape Town is no stranger to design-forward eateries but where many come and go, Hemelhuijs has stood the test of time. Founded in 2009 by the famously creative chef Jacques Erasmus, this city sanctuary is well-known not only for its delicious food (and excellent coffee) but for the fact that the interior is regularly revamped, and beautifully so. That said, Hemelhuijs is stylish but not stuffy, and the staff clearly enjoy working there. A good option for a quick catch-up over breakfast or a lingering lunch with friends, you really can’t go wrong when ordering. Breakfasts are artfully plated and interesting (think baked stone fruit with toasted panettone and creamed burrata). Good luck in deciding what to order for lunch – the salads are quite something. As for drinks, there’s a compact but solid wine list and some great cocktails. The fresh juices are so good, they’ll bring you back to life!
Don't leave without trying:
