Hoghouse Brewing Company
A popular barbeque/bakery with good beer and even better vibes.
With its singular and creative focus on “beer, bread and barbeque”, it’s no wonder that chef PJ Vadas’s Hoghouse eatery in Ndabeni draws loads of regulars to its slightly hidden location. Fans show up for the good coffee, home-brewed beer, American-style barbeque, tasty baked treats and friendly vibes. Whether you pop by for the all-day-breakfast (and leave with the popular barbeque brekkie bun stuffed with spiced pork belly) or swing by around lunchtime for something substantial such as buttermilk fried chicken bowl with cabbage slaw and pickled carrot, you won’t be disappointed. And don’t forget to grab a few pasteis de nata to go (some believe them to be the only truly authentic Portuguese-style pasteis available on local shores). The food is excellent, the service is known to be very friendly, and it’s a good spot to grab some tasty take-home deli products – try their home-made barbeque sauces – or to order a cake for an upcoming birthday.
Don't leave without trying:
The brisket burnt ends bun with smoked beef, baby leaves, pickles and horseradish aïoli.
