Lilies & Limes Country Shop
A farm kitchen and country shop that makes visiting the Waterberg feel like a homecoming.
Five kilometres from Modimolle on the Vaalwater road, Lilies & Limes is the kind of roadside stop that makes a long drive feel like a secret escape. Chef Cindy’s farm kitchen turns out delicious country cooking – from hearty breakfasts to the likes of filled pancakes, tacos, home-baked pies and mind-blowing milkshakes – seven days a week. Meanwhile, the country shop stocks cakes, pastries, jams, pickles, raw honey and “melktertjie” (milk tart) liqueur, all made on site, as well as various local crafts. Be sure to time your visit for Sunday lunch: a three-course set menu served under the trees, with dishes such as potato-and-leek soup, roast fillet of beef or home-made chicken pie, and lemon mousse cake with citrus custard for dessert. Old-fashioned, generous and utterly charming.
