Ostra Mediterranean

At Ostra, seafood is less of a menu category and more of an obsession. The restaurant blends Mediterranean sensibilities with Japanese precision, resulting in a diverse menu that moves confidently between refined small plates, platters, sushi and paella, all centred on exceptionally fresh fish. Its connection to neighbouring fishmonger Pescheria means the seafood is practically fresh off the boat – and you can taste the difference. Menu highlights range from oysters and delicate tiradito (a Peruvian dish of raw fish) to the “you can’t not” seafood mains, and sushi that is treated with reverential discipline. (Beef, pork and lamb are in evidence too; do not fret, carnivores). It’s ambitious without being showy – even if you book a dinner experience to watch a whole tuna being broken down and served as a tasting menu!
