Petiscos opened in 2006 and quickly established a reputation for serving a delectable menu of Portuguese fare in a warm and welcoming setting. This is Portuguese food with a Mozambican flavour, so you can expect a nice hit of spice in dishes like chicken or beef trinchado and espetada, a Mozambican crab curry, and the very popular flame-grilled Xai-Xai chicken. But those looking for milder dishes will find much to enjoy here, in particular a spectacular array of seafood dishes featuring calamari, prawns, kingklip and cod. Dessert offers more than just the obligatory pasteis de nata (although theirs are very good) and the drinks list will have something for every taste, including Portuguese beer and some fun cocktails. The food is rich in flavour and portions are generous and well-priced – come hungry and sit back to enjoy the experience. The atmosphere is homely and service is friendly and attentive. There’s live music on weekends for extra good vibes.
