Publik Wine Bar has become something of a Cape Town institution – it serves an expertly curated list of wines (which changes often) with a focus on sustainable farming and minimal intervention. The wines are wonderful and there are many options available by the glass. Plus, the vibes are great, which makes it a very popular meeting place. The food is also fantastic: think unpretentious bites made really well – there’s an amazing selection of cured meats and cheese. It’s a small-plates situation, so come here for what can be described as a “snacky dinner” and see what the chef whips up – it could be something moreish like lamb belly. The staff are very well-informed and welcoming. They don’t take reservations, but if you want to be assured a seat, look out for one of the popular themed wine evenings.
