It’s the not often that franchise restaurant truly stands the test of time but The Hussar Grill group is the exception. Established in 1964, with locations all over the country, this is classic grill-room dining that has never gone out of fashion – and The Hussar Grill in Mouille Point remains a perennial Cape Town favourite. Expect good-quality food provided by friendly and knowledgeable staff, in a relaxed, old-school steakhouse atmosphere. The menu is vast and leans towards meat-lovers as you would expect, however pescatarians and vegetarians will also find something to bite into. Carnivores are spoilt for choice here, especially with the house specialties (think Chateaubriand and fillet Béarnaise) and meat-on-the-bone section of the menu. A well-curated (and substantial) wine list includes a good selection of cocktails, some of them surprisingly trendy. Whether it’s for a business lunch, a romantic dinner or big family celebration, the Hussar ticks all the boxes.
