Au Bouchon Rouge Brasserie
A French country bistro serving the classics with style.
An unexpected slice of France in the Swartland village of Riebeek Kasteel, Au Bouchon Rouge Brasserie is highly rated for its authentic French cuisine made using locally sourced, seasonal and organic produce, and a fantastic wine list that celebrates local winemakers. It’s so popular that guests say they plan their visits to the village around when the restaurant is open! Parisian chef Julien Debray has lived in South Africa for many years but hasn’t lost his love and passion for the food he grew up eating. The menu is filled with French classics including Burgundy snails with garlic butter, pickled mussels and West Coast oysters, as well as mains of traditional French bavette or sirloin steak with Bearnaise sauce, eight-hour slow-cooked lamb shank Provençal and grilled local fish. For dessert, try French staples such as apple or apricot tarte tatin or Parisian lemon tart.
Don't leave without trying:
The steak tartare and pork terrine for starters, and the prawns flambéed in pastis and the mussel pot for mains.
