Bacini’s Pizzeria and Deli
This Italian favourite is popular for all the right reasons.
Located right at the top of Kloof Street in Gardens, Bacini’s is the definition of a neighbourhood gem. The dining crowd is decidedly local and you're likely to bump into someone you know, but that’s not to say that regular visitors to the city don’t make sure they save space for one of the legendary crispy, thin-based pizzas. The restaurant is run by two generations of the Napoli family, and there's always a fantastic buzz and energy that reflects a restaurant that's truly embedded in its community's fabric. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also has a deli where you can pick up sandwiches, snacks and fresh flowers. After being renovated while closed during the pandemic, the restaurant opened with a new menu, including new favourites including chicken alla limone, bistecca alla Fiorentina (beef sirloin with pickled shallots, citrus-garlic olive oil and mash) and scallopini (beef fillet, Lyonnaise potato, mushroom cream sauce and truffle). There are also delicious pastas, dolce and cocktails that keep the crowds returning. Everything here is about family, food and the joy of sharing – and you can taste it.
Don't leave without trying:
In summer, the burrata salad, and in winter one of the creamy pastas – try the creamy Tuscan ravioli, prawn linguine or vodka rigatoni.
