Manny’s Kitchen
Flavourful Portuguese fare in a relaxed atmosphere.
For those seeking honest, traditional Portuguese food in the Overberg region, Manny’s Kitchen in the quiet town of Bot River has become something of a destination. It’s a humble place, devoid of any fuss or pretense – the atmosphere is casual but the welcome is warm. Inspired by his mom’s recipes from Madeira, chef Manny de Andrade cooks up flavourful dishes including peri-peri chicken, espetadas, trinchado and prego steaks. Being close to the coast, there’s also plenty of seafood to be had, such as a standout seafood platter, flame-grilled sardines and prawns, which are (according to popular opinion) cooked perfectly every time. Locals recommend trying the tasty milho frito (fried pap). Manny’s is also known for its very good (and budget-friendly) wine list, and it’s not unusual at all to see local winemakers gather here for a glass of wine and a plate of delicious food. The restaurant can get quite busy, so be sure to book ahead.
Don't leave without trying:
