Mariner’s Wharf Harbour Front Emporium
This family favourite for seafood in Hout Bay has been running like clockwork for decades.
This Hout Bay icon has been serving some of the freshest seafood in Cape Town for decades and shows no signs of slowing down. Whether you opt for piping-hot fish and chips at the Wharfette Bistro with its focus on takeaways, or sit down for a more leisurely meal at the Wharfside Grill, it’s all good. The menu offers a good combination of old-school favourites including snoek pâté, avocado ritz and Cape brandy tart, but there’s also some more modern additions like sushi (subject to availability), linefish in a Thai green curry sauce, and seared gamefish on linguini with veggies. Be sure to ask about the linefish of the day. The wine list offers many good options by the glass, including no less than three bubbles (!) to enjoy with that plate of oysters you’ve been eyeing. Service is known to be friendly and attentive, and as for setting – well, with views on both the mountain and the ocean, you can’t ask for better.
