Muisbosskerm Open Air Restaurant
A long-time favourite, Muisbosskerm offers a traditional West Coast seafood feast.
Located right on the beach just outside Lambert’s Bay, Muisbosskerm is not so much a spot to grab a quick meal but an experience to be enjoyed at leisure – in this case, the experience of true West Coast hospitality. Expect traditional West Coast seafood served informal buffet-style, and allow two to three hours to enjoy the whole fiesta. The menu changes seasonally, but you can expect to indulge in treats such as corn on the cob, smoked fish, barbequed fish (yellowtail or tuna, snoek in season), traditional potato yeast bread with butter and jam, seafood paella, waterblommetjie bredie (in winter, of course), calamari, fried hake, and coffee and koeksisters for dessert. Come hungry – and bring some extra cash if you want to add crayfish to your meal (in season, and something you need to book on arrival). The atmosphere is very relaxed and the decor is rustic – you eat with a mussel shell! But for a memorable meal, in a stunning location, you can’t ask for more.
Don't leave without trying:
