This popular restaurant in Hermanus focuses on three things: waffles, smashburgers and craft beer – and by all accounts they’ve nailed the brief. The Belgian-style waffles are golden and fluffy and topped with all kinds of delectable treats, including different kinds of ice cream, caramel crackle and mini chocolate brownies. There are also other interesting “stacks” to try: pick your base (fries, croquettes or a waffle) and top it with savoury bites such as buttermilk-fried chicken or slow-roasted pulled pork with barbeque sauce and coleslaw. The smashburgers are served on brioche buns or a waffle and you can indulge in the likes of the Jalapeño Business – a Mexican-style beef patty topped guacamole, Cheddar, pickled jalapeños and nacho shards! Service is welcoming and the vibe is friendly – this is a holiday town, after all. Outdoor seating and views over the harbour make it a very good choice for a good weather outing.
