The Jetty Restaurant at Fryer’s Cove
A seafood-focused restaurant on a West Coast wine estate.
This West Coast wine estate’s vineyards are the closest to the ocean in South Africa, and the salt that settles on them gives the wines produced here their unique flavour. This fact alone makes it an interesting place to visit, and another is chef Edna Visser’s seafood-focused menu at The Jetty restaurant, which fittingly heroes the bounty of the Atlantic Ocean. The seafood platters come highly recommended, featuring perfectly cooked hake, calamari, prawns and herb-crusted mussels, as does the seafood salad. For those who aren’t seafood lovers, other options include steak, a burger and falafel with flatbread. There’s also a roosterkoek section on the menu, which also makes guests very happy – try one with cheese, snoek pâté, makataan (wild watermelon preserve) or Marmite, butter and apricot jam. For dessert, traditional malva pudding or a rooibos crème brûlée will round things off perfectly. Of course, everything tastes better when paired with their own wines, and there are also beers and soft drinks on offer.
Don't leave without trying:
The calamari, chorizo and corn salad.
