The Whippet in Linden
A true neighbourhood café, with standout breakfasts.
A love letter to Linden’s creative spirit and peach-farming heritage, The Whippet is a celebration of the area’s growers, butchers, bakers and artists. In fact, it feels almost less like a café and more like a beautiful community meeting point (usually with a doggo napping under a table somewhere). That there’s excellent coffee goes without saying, but the real drawcard here are the inventive breakfasts, which go beyond the usual café fare in both imagination and flavour. There are traditional-leaning and lovingly crafted fry-ups, of course, but then you come across something like a buttermilk-chicken eggs Benedict or bobotie omelette. Come for lunch and you’re equally well rewarded with the likes of spicy lamb-ragù pasta, a harissa lamb burger, or Asian scallion pancakes.
Don't leave without trying:
The buttermilk chicken Benedict – buttermilk-crusted chicken and two poached eggs with silky Hollandaise sauce and microherbs, on a toasted English muffin.
