Popular for breakfast, a post-surf pizza, or a burger and beer (or cider or wine if you prefer), this pet-friendly, artisanal brewery set among the milkwood trees in Noordhoek is a firm favourite. Owner Rory Lancellas is a deeply passionate craftsman and makes intriguing, experimental beers, including flavours such as Key Lime pie and one infused with beechwood shavings as a nod to his customers’ favourite activity, among many others. Fans say that quality and excellence are the guiding principles here – his stated objective is to “make real beer properly”. The food is no slouch, either. The pizzas are legendary – Rory imported the pizza oven from Naples to make sure it’s as authentic as possible – another sign of his passion for quality. The Hot Fun Guy pizza (mushrooms, white truffle oil, fior di latte mozzarella and hot chillies) is a winner, paired with the marshmallow stout. The burgers also get a shout-out, and include a classic cheeseburger, a spicy “KFC” Korean chicken burger, and single or double smashburgers. Other options include a New Yorker or Gangnam-style hot dog, and the sustainably sourced Abalobi fish burger.

Don't leave without trying:
The kimchi toastie, cauliflower wings, ‘nduja pizza, ice-cream sandwich.
