The Foodbarn Café & Tapas

The Foodbarn is a mainstay of the Cape peninsula dining scene and it’s not hard to see why: whether you’re there for a wholesome brekkie, a light lunch, or some slightly fancier tapas and wine, the food is consistently delicious. Plus, dessert here is always something special. For breakfast, standouts include Turkish eggs and Persian eggs Benny with spicy chickpeas and chilli-dusted Hollandaise. The light lunch menu offers satisfying sarmies and salads, but the tapas menu is where things get really interesting. The salmon and tuna tartares are always worth ordering, and the same goes for the beef carpaccio. When it comes to mains, you can never go wrong with risotto, teriyaki salmon or grilled duck breast, which all come with excellent wine pairings. Service can slow down a notch when things get busy, but it’s always friendly. There are worse ways to spend a weekend afternoon than dining here while the kids tumble about in the colourful and creative play area.
