Caramba Authentic Portuguese Restaurant
An authentic Portuguese restaurant serving all the classics.
This relaxed eatery offers authentic Portuguese-style food inspired by the cuisine of Portugal, Madeira and Mozambique. Try specialties such as feijoada – a traditional stew of beans, pork, chicken and chorizo with rice; caldeirada – a fish-and-seafood stew with onions, peppers and potatoes; or the cataplana for two – prawns, mussels, fish, calamari and chorizo with savoury rice. The sharing platters are also popular, and there’s an extensive selection of other dishes covering all the classics, from fish and seafood, to curries, chicken and beef. You can also look forward to bacalhau (salt cod) served various ways, including as fritters, or baked with caramelised onions, potatoes and cream. Desserts offer the likes of pasteis de nata, crème caramel, bolo de mel (a traditional Madeiran nutty treacle cake) and pudim maracuja (a Madeiran passion fruit “panna cotta”). Portuguese wine and beer complete the picture – book a table with some friends and join the party.
