Jason Bakery
An excellent bakery and café with cult following in Cape Town.
There’s no one quite like chef Jason Lilley (a.k.a. Captain Bread) and it follows that there’s no other bakery/café quite like Jason Bakery in Green Point, Cape Town. Simply put, everything that comes out of this kitchen is delicious. Whether it’s sweet treats (including a mean pastel de nata and proper canelés de Bordeaux) or something moreish from the breakfast menu (such as The Bomb croissant with streaky bacon, Emmenthal cheese and poached egg), you really can’t go wrong here. There are plenty of great options on the lunch menu too, including a pie of the day, a fantastic burger and some inventive sarmies and salads. A short drinks list with beers, wine and a few breakfast-friendly cocktails means that you can turn your brekkie into a doozy of a brunch. The atmosphere is energetic and friendly, and service is efficient. Be sure to pick up a loaf of Jason’s excellent bread, and keep in mind their pre-order section for upcoming special events (or just a treat-yo’self moment).
