Giovanni’s Deliworld
An authentic Italian deli offering tasty sit-down treats and take-home meals.
This perennial Cape Town favourite has been running like clockwork for more than three decades and it’s not hard to see why. While it changed ownership in 2024 (founder Giovanni Esposito sold it to the Sole family), it remains a great place to pause for a good espresso or break your fast with a delicious bagel. Apart from sit-down meals (which include fresh pastas), Giovanni’s does a roaring trade with readymade salads, precooked meals and a counter stocked with tasty cured meats. It’s not unusual to see diners leave with what can only be described as a picnic-on-the-go, especially on summer evenings when Clifton’s beaches are calling. And if you’re on the hunt for a hard-to-find ingredient, there’s a good chance the pantry section has your back. Expect good food and an upbeat tempo that’s right at home in buzzing Green Point.
Don't leave without trying:
The salmon bagel is a must – especially with extra pickled onions on the side.
