De Eetkamer
A popular Stellenbosch eatery serving globally inspired small plates.
Described as “the most accessible restaurant in Stellenbosch”, De Eetkamer is located in a renovated stable in Stellenbosch’s historic city centre. The property is shared with an art gallery and a library, making for some interesting browsing before or after your meal. Here, chef Marco Cardoso serves globally inspired, sharing plates made with great care and attention to detail. He recommends ordering four to six plates to share between two people, so kick off with the likes of a Japanese milk bun with whipped harissa butter, truffle risotto with mascarpone cream and pecan nuts, Thai pork satay skewers with peanut sauce, or lamb ragu with soft polenta. There are plenty of options for vegetarians, who will enjoy roasted butternut with seed-and-nut crumb, tahini and chilli crisp, as well as the very popular Korean fried cauliflower with sweet soy. For dessert, opt for freshly baked madeleines or sea salt caramel crème brûlée. It’s the perfect place for a “fancy” winelands lunch without any stiffness or pretension.
Don't leave without trying:
