Gaatjie Restaurant
A friendly West Coast eatery offering delicious seafood in a seaside setting.
Located right on the rocks in a former fisherman’s cottage, Gaatjie Restaurant is a West Coast institution and a must-visit in the pretty town of Paternoster. As you’d expect from a restaurant located on the shoreline, seafood is the name of the game here – take your pick from West Coast mussels and Saldanha Bay oysters, or seared tuna with Asian flavours or a smoked snoek salad. Carnivores and vegetarians will enjoy slow-braised beef tacos or the popular masala-flavoured roasted cauliflower “slice”. Helmed by the Kruger family since 2015, the spot is known for its friendly service and laid-back simplicity. When the weather’s good, the verandah is the place to be. Be sure to book ahead so you can enjoy not only the delicious food, but a fine glass of wine from their highly local wine list.
Don't leave without trying:
The smoked angelfish bobotie spring rolls with home-made chilli sauce.
