Genki Sushi & Japanese Tapas

This Stellenbosch favourite opened in 2009 and has been going strong ever since, thanks to the hands-on presence of the owners, Richard and Charlene Waite. Regulars wax lyrical about the courtyard eatery’s excellent specials board, friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. You can expect fresh, high-quality food that is consistently delicious. Apart from the sushi range, which some say offers the best nigiri menu on our shores, diners can look forward to tasty Japanese tapas including crispy bang bang prawns (king-sized prawns wrapped in spring roll pastry, served with ponzu sauce and avo). Alternatively, take your pick from moreish dumplings (the oxtail comes highly recommended), delicious steamed buns and a variety of noodle dishes. The drinks menu – which offers Asian beers, hot sake and a Stellenbosch-forward wine selection – also gets two thumbs up. Perfect for a family night out or a leisurely dinner on a summer’s evening.
