HeSheng Chinese Restaurant
Authentic, tasty Chinese cuisine made with care and attention.
“Authentic Chinese food that won’t break the bank” is what this popular restaurant promises on its website, and by all accounts it has met its goal a thousand times over. It’s not just Capetonians who show up here – devoted followers come from far and wide for the flavourful cooking. The menu has a lot of variety: from stir-fries to dim sum, soups to soup noodles and fried rice dishes, but whatever you order, the food will be well-made and well-seasoned. If you’re lucky, you might find the owner hand-rolling dumplings and potstickers at one of the tables! The decor is unassuming but the service is courteous and the food is absolutely the star of the show. It’s worth noting that the portions are substantial, so take care not to over-order. If you’re looking for authentic Chinese served with an unintimidating approach, look no further.
Don't leave without trying:
Any item on the dim sum menu will knock your socks off but do try the pork-and-leek steamed dumplings.
