Cape Town has no shortage of good burger joints but since its opening a couple of years ago, Le Pickle has very quickly become a go-to with those in the know. And what they know is: Le Pickle has perfected the art of the smashburger. The menu is small but mighty, and impresses with home-made buns, perfectly smashed patties, deeply delicious sauces and what can only be described as highly addictive fries. The Le Classic burger is a favourite for a reason (double patty, Cheddar, pickles and “le sauce”), but you’ll also find joy in the chicken burger with Emmenthal, slaw, pickles and a spicy sauce. The drinks list includes a few great cocktails and the sweet section caps the experience with a variety of soft serve flavours. The decor is deeply cool, the atmosphere is trendy and relaxed, and service is friendly, with the owners often seen on the floor. Come for the burgers, they say, and stay for the vibes – and the vibes are seriously good.
