The Melting Pot
Expect small plates with bold flavours at this spectacular eatery.
This eatery has moved around a bit, starting out in Cape Town pre-Covid, then off to Elgin for a few years, followed by a stint at the Time Out Market at the V&A Waterfront, but has now found a permanent home in De Waterkant, in what is a clear win for local foodies. The focus here is small plates with big flavours, and boy, do they deliver. The menu is concise but packs a punch. Dishes such as chicken liver parfait with onion marmalade have developed what can only be described as a cult following. If you have trouble deciding between the small plates (how to choose between smoked lamb biryani and “crack fried chicken wings”?), simply order the “one of everything” option to be shared between two. The same goes for dessert – there’s no need to complicate things! Every dish is vibrant and unforgettably delicious. Charming outdoor seating, a rooftop terrace, excellent service and a good local wine list round out a stellar offering.
Don't leave without trying:
Crispy fish tacos with smoked potato aïoli, tartare sauce and house pickles.
