Lello’s Deli
A buzzy trattoria serving unfussy, delicious Italian food.
A whole community developed around the tiny Lello’s Café in De Waterkant, run by Chiara Turilli and her family, so it’s no surprise that their legendary hospitality has won them an immediate and loyal following at Lello’s Deli in Sea Point. What to expect? Truly authentic focaccia, Roman-style pizzas baked in a tray and sold by the slice, and moreish pasta dishes (made with their own, bronze-extruded pasta) such as a pasta amatriciana that will have you weeping grateful tears into your plate. Add to that a convivial atmosphere and a pumping bar sending out cocktails heavy on Italian inspiration, and it’s next to impossible to visit this spot without having a good time. On the sweet side of things, they make one of the best tiramisus in town and the caffé della nonna (frozen coffee mousse) also has a devoted fan base. This is unfussy and traditional, seasonal Italian food at its best.
Don't leave without trying:
You haven’t lived until you’ve nabbed one of their porchetta sandwiches for lunch.
