“Don’t stand on ceremony” is one of the gentle suggestions on the Olympia Café’s website and that’s exactly the kind of atmosphere you can expect here – it’s warm, welcoming and entirely unpretentious. Fair warning: this is a beloved spot, especially over weekends, and they don’t take bookings so you might have to wait for a table. But you can always mosey around the corner to their bakery and grab something to munch on while a table opens (and buy a well-made loaf of bread for later). The coffee is good and the eggy breakfasts are lovely – standouts include the Kassler loin with poached egg, tomato and a truly excellent Hollandaise. The lunch and dinner menus change but there will always be something interesting to warm the belly – locals swear by the mussels. This place always exudes warm vibes – it’s the kind of eatery where there’s a piano in the back with a resident pianist playing for the hard-working bakers.

Don't leave without trying:
