Salt
A buzzing, seaside eatery serving delicious small plates.
Salt in Kalk Bay is a compact eatery that has built up a loyal following on what is a very busy street with lots of competition. Combine well-made, bistro-style small plates with a good wine list, friendly service and a great atmosphere, and you’ve got a sure-fire winner. The blackboard menus may change, but recent standouts include flash-fried baby marrow with kale pesto, wasabi-dusted calamari, a fantastic beef slider, and a rich and satisfying lamb ravioli that you’ll be thinking about for a long time. The vibe is welcoming and there’s a great buzz, especially on weekends. Tables are big enough to be shared between groups, and often are. They also do a roaring trade at breakfast time (with R15 coffees between 6am and 9am) – nab a seat at the window counter to watch the world go by.
