Situated on the picturesque Vendôme Wine Estate in Paarl, Salmon and Brine is a family-owned and run seafood, sushi and Japanese fusion restaurant. Owner and chef Cameron Stewart presides over an extensive menu, ranging from classic starters such as calamari, West Coast mussels and oysters, to Asian-inspired salads, Japanese-style hot plates including spring rolls, pork skewers and prawn, veg or pork potstickers. For mains, linefish or prawn curry are bound to please, as will prawn or seafood pasta, Norwegian salmon, sole or king prawns. Add to that tempura, sushi and sashimi and you’ll find it hard to choose! The Japanese hot kitchen menu features the likes of tori katsu (fried panko-crumbed, deboned chicken thighs with egg-fried rice and tonkatsu sauce), beef fillet miso yaki served with wasabi mash and tempura onion rings, and beef or chicken red curry. It makes for a tasty day out in the winelands.

Don't leave without trying:
The sashimi sunomono salad – sashimi-cut fish with wakame, salmon roe, red onion, radish, cucumber, spring onion and sesame seeds with a Japanese soy dressing.
