Surf Riders Café Cabanas
Hang loose, eat good chow.
Samantha “Chef Sam” Small-shaw has built Surf Riders’ Café into a cult favourite through passion, perseverance and by consistently living up to the brand’s tagline of “just good chow”. The Cabanas branch, the third in the family, offers the full beach-bum experience: ocean views, good grub and an unpretentious, chilled-out vibe. The menu is a wide-ranging ride, from burgers, pizza and poké bowls to Durban curries, deep-fried fish tacos and their famous whole-roasted, wood-fired fish. Brekkies are served in biodegradable cartons, so dawn patrollers can hit the beach ASAP. It’s environmentally conscious, pet-friendly (there's a dedicated doggie menu) and handles those post-surf hunger pangs with ease. The kind of place where flip-flops are always appropriate.
Don't leave without trying:
The soft-shell crab burger, with guacamole and habanero mayo.
