You’ll find Yama Asian Eatery on the main road in the pretty town of Franschhoek, offering what some would say is some of the best sushi around. Expect authentic flavours here – the fact that they offer a sake tasting experience already bodes well. The sushi menu is well-thought out and beautifully complemented by the wine list. On the Asian tapas menu you’ll find tempura, soups, dumplings, donburi and bao. If bao is your thing, order the Torio bao where you get one of each – Korean chicken, crispy shiitake mushroom and tempura prawn. We’ve also heard great reports about their desserts and cocktails – standouts from the latter include the wasabi mule (gin, wasabi, yuzu and ginger ale). Expect an outstanding experience with top-quality food in a very pleasing location, plus excellent and very friendly service.
